Ya'juj & Ma'juj (Gog & Magog)
A people sealed behind a barrier until the end of time.
Ya'juj and Ma'juj are two corrupt peoples who spread corruption on earth when released. Allah enabled Dhul-Qarnayn to confine them behind a barrier. Near the Hour they will break through — one of the major signs of the Last Day.
In the Qur’an
Surah al-Kahf recounts how Dhul-Qarnayn built a barrier between two mountains, trapping them until they are allowed to emerge near the end of time.
Qur'anThey said: “O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Ya’juj and Ma’juj are corrupters in the land. Shall we assign for you a tribute that you might make between us and them a barrier?” … He said: “This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes, He will level it to dust, and the promise of my Lord is ever true.” And We will leave them that day surging over each other…Qur’an 18:94–99 (summarized)
In the Sunnah
They will drink dry lakes and attack people. After ‘Isa (AS) kills the Dajjal, he and the believers will seek refuge on a mountain while Ya'juj and Ma'juj ravage the land — until Allah destroys them.
HadithYa’juj and Ma’juj are every day trying to dig through the barrier. When they are about to see sunlight, their leader says “We will return tomorrow” — and Allah restores it harder than before, until their time comes.Sahih Muslim 2880
Hadith‘Isa ibn Maryam (AS) and his companions will supplicate Allah, and Allah will send worms in their necks that kill them; the Muslims will not even need the stench of their corpses.Sahih Muslim 2937
