Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Rabbana waj'alna muslimayni laka wa min dhurriyyatina ummatan muslimatan laka...

Dua al-Qunut
Authentic qunut wordings from the Prophet ﷺ and the Companions (رضي الله عنهم), with hadith references below each card. Witr qunut is before ruku‘ in the last rak‘ah of witr; Nāzilah is after ruku‘ in Fajr (or other prayers) when calamity strikes. See Witr prayer guide.
Allahumma ihdini fiman hadayt, wa ‘afini fiman ‘afayt, wa tawallani fiman tawallayt, wa barik li fima a‘tayt, wa qini sharra ma qadayt, fa innaka taqdi wa la yuqda ‘alayk, wa innahu la yadhillu man walayt, wa la ya‘izzu man ‘adayt, tabarakta Rabbana wa ta‘alayt.
O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, take me into Your charge among those You have taken into Your charge, bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. For You decree and none can decree over You; whoever You befriend is not humiliated, and whoever You oppose is not honored. Blessed are You, our Lord, and Exalted.
— Prophetic — recited in witr before ruku‘
Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (رضي الله عنهما) said the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught him these words to say in the qunut of witr.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1425 — Sahih (al-Albani) — al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali from the Prophet ﷺ
Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 464 — Hasan — al-Tirmidhi said he did not know a better qunut for witr than this
Sunan an-Nasa’i 1746 — Related wording; graded da‘if by al-Albani in Irwa’ al-Ghalil
…tabarakta Rabbana wa ta‘alayt, la manja minka illa ilayk.
The witr qunut above, ending with: There is no refuge from You except to You.
— Extended wording reported for the witr qunut
Scholars cite this closing phrase as an addition to the prophetic witr qunut; it is not in the main Sunan wording of Abu Dawud 1425 but is reported as a supplement.
Ibn Mandah, al-Tawhid — Narration of the closing phrase — hasan (al-Albani)
Irwa’ al-Ghalil 426, 429 — al-Albani graded the ending hasan and listed it with the witr qunut
O Allah, we seek Your help and ask Your forgiveness; we believe in You and rely upon You. We praise You for good and thank You, and are not ungrateful. We disavow whoever disobeys You. You alone we worship; to You we pray and prostrate; to You we strive and hasten. We hope for Your mercy and fear Your punishment — Your severe punishment will reach the disbelievers.
— Companion practice — commonly used in qunut al-nāzilah and (in some schools) witr
This exact long wording is transmitted from several Companions (including Ibn Mas‘ud, ‘Umar, ‘Ubayy ibn Ka‘b, and ‘Ali). The Prophet ﷺ made qunut in calamity, but this full text is their wording, not a single hadith with these words from the Prophet ﷺ.
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah 6965 — ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud taught this for qunut (wording varies slightly in related narrations)
Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kubra 2/210 — From ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab — saheeh (al-Albani in Irwa’ al-Ghalil 2/170)
Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq — Also narrated from ‘Umar, ‘Ali, ‘Ubayy ibn Ka‘b, and early scholars
Sahih al-Bukhari 4094; Sahih Muslim 677c — The Prophet ﷺ did make qunut for a month in Fajr after calamity — see next entries for his words
Dua al-Qunut — ‘Umar’s addition (People of the Book)
O Allah, punish the disbelievers among the People of the Book who turn people away from Your path.
— Appended after the Companion qunut — reported from ‘Umar (رضي الله عنه)
‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) is reported to have added this supplication after the main qunut when calamity befell the Muslims.
Sunan al-Bayhaqi al-Kubra 2/210–211 — With the Companion qunut of ‘Umar — saheeh (al-Albani in Irwa’ al-Ghalil 2/170)
Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah — Related qunut narrations from Companions with variant wordings
Qunut al-Nāzilah — words of the Prophet ﷺ against oppressors
عُصَيَّةُ عَصَتِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ
‘Usayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.
Among the supplications when the Prophet ﷺ made qunut for about a month in Fajr (after the martyrdom of the Qurra’ at Bi’r Ma‘una), he invoked against Ri‘l, Dhakwan, and ‘Usayyah, and said: “‘Usayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.” Congregants behind him saidāmīn.
— Prophetic — qunut after ruku‘ in Fajr during calamity
Anas (رضي الله عنه) reported the Prophet ﷺ observed qunut for a month after ruku‘ in the dawn prayer, invoking curse upon Ri‘l and Dhakwan and saying ‘Usayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.
Sahih al-Bukhari 4094 — Anas — qunut after ruku‘ for one month against Ri‘l and Dhakwan
Sahih Muslim 677c, 677h — Anas — qunut in Fajr after ruku‘ with the same supplication
Sunan Abi Dawud 1443 — Ibn ‘Abbas — qunut for a month in multiple prayers, invoking against clans of Banu Sulaym: Ri‘l, Dhakwan, and ‘Usayyah
