Ad-Dajjal
The false messiah — one-eyed, a supreme trial.
Ad-Dajjal (the False Messiah) is a human being who will appear before the Day of Judgment, claiming lordship, performing frightening deceptions, and testing faith. Every prophet warned his nation about him. Seeking refuge from him in salah is Sunnah.
His description
He is a young, powerful deceiver — one eye blind like a floating grape. “Kafir” will be written between his eyes; believers will read it. He will command the sky to rain for followers and order the earth to bring forth crops for those who believe in him.
HadithThe Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained in Makkah for ten days, warning people about the Dajjal. He said: “He is one-eyed, and your Lord is not one-eyed. Between his eyes will be written Kafir, which every believer will read, literate or not.”Sahih al-Bukhari 7128; Sahih Muslim 2933
HadithNo prophet was sent except that he warned his nation of the Dajjal.Sahih Muslim 2942
His trial and end
He will travel quickly across the earth. Many will follow him out of fear and confusion. He cannot enter Makkah or Madinah. ‘Isa ibn Maryam (AS) will descend and kill him at the gate of Ludd (Palestine).
HadithThe Dajjal will come, and when he reaches the marsh of Khuzaymah he will stop. Madinah will shake three times and every hypocrite will go out to him.Sahih Muslim 2943
Hadith‘Isa (AS) will descend and kill the Dajjal at the gate of Ludd.Sahih Muslim 2937
Protection
Memorize the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf, seek refuge in the last tashahhud of every prayer, and hold firmly to tawhid.
HadithWhoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal.Sahih Muslim 809
